Shibari Initiation Weekend English Edition

Shibari is a quiet, embodied practice where rope becomes a tool for presence and trust. Over two full days you’ll be guided from absolute beginner skills through the full technical material of Level 1A — with equal attention to safety, consent and the felt quality of connection. The weekend blends technical sequences with relational practice so you leave with usable knots and a clearer sense of how rope can hold attention and intimacy.

Sam from Studio ES teaches from experience and care: since 2023 they have guided hundreds of people in workshops that emphasise connection over performance. Expect step-by-step teaching, plenty of hands-on practice both giving and receiving, and steady support so the learning settles into your body rather than just your head.

Across Saturday we focus on foundations: origins, philosophy, the essentials of safety and consent, and the core grips and ties that make a shibari session feel safe and meaningful. There’s no rush, and no pressure to perform — you are invited to be present with what arises.

Sunday is about nuance and flow. You’ll add more technique and learn how to weave the building blocks into a personal, flowing practice so shibari becomes a living way of connecting rather than a list of steps. The teaching is technical and connective, with space to feel how it lands in your body and presence.

Who this weekend is for: absolute beginners; couples who want to learn together in a safely held group; singles (you’ll practise with others, no pre-arranged partner needed); and anyone curious about how deeper connection can be explored through rope. Practical details you should know: the group is limited to 25 participants, the weekend is held in English, and a vegetarian lunch is provided both days.
